Does your Pellet certification expire in 2012?
Are you going to renew by exam?

If you answer "Yes" to BOTH of these questions please note:

NFI policy requires that each time you renew your certification by exam, the exam must be a revised version, not the same version you took before. In order to maximize staff efficiency, improve quality and establish program flexibility, NFI is delaying the release of a revised Pellet exam from 2012 to 2013.

It will therefore NOT be possible to renew your Pellet certification by exam in 2012 if you took the exam in 2009. Instead, for this year only, you can extend your current certification for one year. You can do this by meeting two requirements before your current certification expires:

  1. Pay a one year extension fee of $75.00.
  2. Complete a “Pellet Update and Reinforcement Course” (URC). This course will be available at no extra charge through HE@RTH Online Training, at HPBExpo, and at some Affiliate training events. The course will cover the latest information on codes, standards, and pellet appliance and venting technology, as well as review of the new pellet fuel standards.

On completion of these requirements, your NFI Pellet Certification and your listing on www.nficertified will be extended for one year. Beginning at HPBExpo 2013 you will be able to take the newly revised exam and renew for three years again.

NOTE: this temporary change for renewal by exam does NOT affect renewal by continuing education units (CEU). If your Pellet certification expires in 2012, and you meet CEU requirements, you can renew your certification for three years as in the past.
