NFI Woodburning Specialist

The NFI Woodburning Certification signifies that a technician has passed a rigorous exam covering a wide variety of topics that pertain to the proper planning and installation of woodburning hearth appliances.  Based on a detailed industry survey, known as a Job Analysis, an extensive list of vital knowledge statements and tasks was developed.  This list is updated on a regular basis to ensure that the knowledge and tasks list keep up with ever changing products.  The current certification exam is based on the 6th Edition Woodburning Reference manual. Topics covered in the manual and on the exam include:

• Venting systems.
• Installation guidelines and troubleshooting.
• Factory-built fireplaces.
• Inserts.
• Wood stoves.
• House pressure tests.
